OVERVIEW: Welcome to 1967 Grand Prix racing! It's nothing like autoracing as we know it today- there are no multi-million dollar sponsors, strict safety regulations, modern aerodynamic or grip enhancments (like wings and spoilers). Nope, Grand Prix racing back then consisted of strapping yourself into a cylindrical fuselage powered by a monster V12! Your knuckles go white as you pilot this snarling, twichy beast around some of racing most storied curcuits; Monza, Spa, Watkins Glen, Silverstone, Nurburgring and Monacco. If this sounds hazzardous- well, it was.
Sierra/Papyrus' newest auto racing sim is possibly the most realistic sim of it's kind. Everything (for the most part) from teams, drivers, curcuits and conditions is dead on. And so is the physics- be prepared to go airborne, spin and roll if you don't pay attention! Grand Prix Legends WILL test your driving skill. This is a racing sim not for the faint of heart- or the casual racer. Grand Prix Legends is a sim that requires players to hone and develop driving skills. If you think you can fire up the game and go out and run away with a easy victory you will be rudely awakened. Don't worry, the game does come with a training mode and a nice strategy guide.
Grand Prix Legends, besides being somewhat difficult, also requires a pretty hefty machine to run. I recommend nothing less than a P266 MMX with 64 MB RAM if you want decent framerate. Otherwise be prepared to drop all the detail- and frankly that's no fun! Buy a steering wheel while your at it as well although I used a joystick with no problems.
